It's all about getting stuck in. And here are some examples of how our people enjoy doing just that.
From reading meters to running marathons – you might be surprised at what we get up to in the name of great customer service. It might just jog your memory too...
Over 250 meters
Spending four days shadowing three of E.ON's meter readers, Rebecca travelled from home to Bolton, to Stoke-on-Trent, to Wales and back. As well as learning all she could about one of our client's roles, she also discovered the true value of comfy shoes.
Extracts from Rebecca's E.ON job shadowing diary:
"The only way I was really going to understand the job was by doing it... at more doors, in another street, the pace is fast, striding up the street (I'm relieved it's all flat round here!), and in and out of the houses... It's the end of the day and I'm exhausted and my feet hurt... Walking round the streets, and up a leafy lane gives me a glimpse of some of the nicer parts of this job... I opened meter boxes, chatted to customers, checked serial numbers, entered readings... I now know a lot about meter serial numbers, meter types... I hadn't realised the complexity of a meter reader's job."
Going an extra 26.2 miles – Olly
After working on a couple of projects for Temple Street Children's University Hospital, I started to understand the great work they do for sick children across Ireland. I wanted to do something more, beyond being their Account Manager, so I decided to run the Dublin Marathon this year to help raise money for them. I've never run a marathon before and, after four months of training, I've finally understood what it entails – I've just got used to my legs feeling like jelly for the first two hours every morning! It takes place on October 27th so there are only a few weeks to go now, and I hope that everyone will get behind me and give a little sponsorship to help one of our most caring clients.
